*Residents Demand Separate Water Supply Zone for DBO Complex Amid Persistent Water Shortage in Bhayandar
Residents of the DBO Zone Complex in Mira-Bhayandar have demanded the creation of an independent water supply zone to address the long-standing water shortage issue, warning of an indefinite protest from June 18 if their demand is not met.
Residents of the DBO Zone Complex in Ward No. 14 of Mira-Bhayandar have once again raised concerns over the persistent water shortage affecting the area for several years. Through a formal representation submitted to the municipal administration, residents have demanded the creation of a separate water supply zone exclusively for the complex to ensure a regular and uninterrupted water supply.
The DBO Zone Complex comprises approximately 3,400 residential units and is home to an estimated 12,000 to 15,000 residents. Despite contributing nearly ₹5 crore annually in property tax revenue to the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), residents allege that they continue to face irregular and inadequate water supply.
According to residents, several written and verbal complaints have been submitted to the municipal administration and the water supply department over the years. However, they claim that no effective measures have been taken to resolve the issue permanently.
Residents believe that establishing a dedicated water supply zone for the complex and allocating a separate supply schedule would provide a long-term solution to the recurring problem.
Meanwhile, residents have issued a warning to the civic administration, stating that if the water supply department fails to create an independent zone and streamline water supply by June 10, they will launch an indefinite sit-in protest outside the main entrance of the DBO Zone Complex from June 18.
The response of the municipal administration to the residents' demands will now be closely watched by the thousands of families affected by the ongoing water crisis.
