Mayor Dimple Mehta Inspects Delayed Pipeline Project on National Highway

The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has resumed the stalled pipeline work under the ambitious Surya Regional Water Supply Project aimed at addressing the city’s growing future water needs.

The work involves laying a 1300 mm diameter water pipeline between Hotel Neelkamal and Delhi Darbar along the National Highway. The project had remained temporarily suspended for the last five to six days due to traffic management concerns and safety precautions raised by the traffic police department.

Taking serious note of the delay, Mayor Dimple Vinod Mehta conducted a joint inspection visit at the project site on May 25, 2026. During the inspection, officials reviewed safety arrangements, traffic control measures, and steps being implemented to ensure the safety of commuters and local residents.

Following the review, the Mayor instructed the concerned contractor to immediately restart the work while strictly adhering to all safety norms and regulations. Accordingly, the pending work has now resumed, and efforts are being made to complete the project within the scheduled timeframe.

The Surya Regional Water Supply Project is considered a crucial long-term infrastructure initiative for Mira-Bhayandar. The civic administration stated that the project aims to provide residents with a stronger, regular, and sustainable water supply system in the future.

Executive Engineer Sharad Nanegaonkar, Deputy Engineer Uttam Randive, Traffic Department Sub-Inspector Dnyaneshwar Jagtap, along with contractors and project management consultants, were also present during the joint inspection visit.
