Congress Stages ‘Matka Phod’ Protest Against Water Shortage in Mira-Bhayandar, Warns of Intensified Agitation

In a strong show of protest against the recurring water shortage crisis in the city, the Congress party staged a "Matka Phod" (pot-breaking) agitation outside the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) headquarters on Thursday.

The protest was conducted under the guidance of District Congress President Rakesh Rajpurohit and witnessed the participation of former corporators, party office-bearers, and a large number of Congress workers.

Expressing their anger over the administration's alleged failure to address the issue, protesters broke earthen pots in front of the Municipal Commissioner’s office, symbolizing the hardships faced by residents due to inadequate water supply.

Congress leaders alleged that several parts of Mira-Bhayandar frequently experience disruptions in water supply, forcing citizens to struggle for access to regular and sufficient water. They demanded that the civic administration take the issue seriously and implement immediate solutions to ensure uninterrupted water supply across the city.

Addressing the gathering, District Congress President Rakesh Rajpurohit warned the administration that concrete measures must be taken without delay to resolve the water crisis. He stated that if the authorities fail to act promptly, the Congress party will launch a more intense agitation in the coming days.

With the city's growing population, inadequate water supply infrastructure, and recurring water cuts continuing to fuel public dissatisfaction, residents are now closely watching the Municipal Corporation's response to the issue.
