Woman Files Rape and Harassment Case in Kashimira; Accuses Man of Marriage Fraud and Religious Conversion Pressure

A woman has filed a criminal complaint at *Kashigaon Police Station*, alleging that a man sexually exploited her under the pretext of marriage, pressured her to convert her religion, and later refused to marry her.

Based on the woman's complaint, police have registered a case against *Shabas Razzak Shaikh* under sections 313, 376(2)(D), 323, 504, and 506 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The allegations are currently under investigation, and the accused's response to the allegations has not been publicly reported.

According to the complainant, who has been identified with a changed name to protect her identity, she met the accused in 2022 while working at a private company in Malad. She alleged that their friendship later developed into a relationship and that the accused introduced her to his family in 2023, assuring her that he would marry her.

The woman further alleged that the accused established a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage and later arranged a rented residence where they lived together. During this period, she claims she became pregnant twice and that both pregnancies were terminated at the accused's insistence.

The complainant also alleged that whenever she raised the issue of marriage, the accused told her that she would have to convert her religion before any marriage could take place. She stated that repeated delays and alleged promises left her distressed.

According to the FIR, the dispute escalated on May 28, 2026, when the woman visited the accused's residence in the Hatkesh area. She alleged that members of the accused's family assaulted her, following which she approached Kashigaon Police Station and lodged a complaint.

Police have registered the case and initiated an investigation into the allegations. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
