Panic gripped passengers after a massive fire broke out in the Tiruvananthapuram–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express near Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday morning.

According to initial reports, the fire started around 5:15 AM in coach B-1 of Train No. 12431. Thick smoke and flames quickly spread through the coach, creating chaos among passengers onboard.

Railway authorities immediately halted the train and began evacuation operations. Officials confirmed that all 68 passengers travelling in the affected coach were safely rescued without any loss of life.

The incident reportedly disrupted railway traffic for nearly seven hours, affecting the movement of around 13 trains on the route.

Fire brigade teams and railway staff rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after intense efforts. Authorities stated that the coach was completely gutted in the fire.

Railway officials are currently investigating the exact cause of the incident. Preliminary reports suggest that a possible electrical short circuit may have triggered the blaze, though official confirmation is awaited.

Passengers praised the quick response of railway staff and emergency teams, saying timely evacuation helped avert a major tragedy.
