Nayanagar Police Bust Prostitution Racket, Woman Agent Arrested; Three Victims Rescued
Nayanagar Police arrested a woman agent involved in prostitution activities in Mira Road and rescued three women during a raid conducted at a hotel in the area
In a major crackdown, Nayanagar Police Station arrested a woman agent allegedly involved in running a prostitution racket and rescued three women from her custody during a raid conducted at a hotel in Mira Road on May 15.
According to police sources, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Chavan received confidential information that a woman agent was arranging women for customers in exchange for money. Based on the tip-off, the police team prepared a decoy customer after completing legal formalities and panchnama procedures.
The decoy customer contacted the accused woman and asked her to arrange three women for prostitution activities at a hotel in Mira Road. Acting on the plan, the accused brought three women to the hotel. After negotiations were completed and cash was accepted, the police team conducted the raid and detained the accused woman along with the three women.
A case has been registered at Nayanagar Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
The arrested woman has been remanded to police custody till May 19, while the three rescued women have been shifted to Rescue Foundation in Kandivali for rehabilitation and care. Further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Rahul Chavan and ACP Sohel Sheikh by Senior Police Inspector Amar Jagdale, Assistant Police Inspector Sudhir Thorat and their team.
