A horrific road accident took place on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Western Express Highway near Kashimira during the early hours of Thursday at around 3:30 AM. A speeding four-wheeler crashed into a stationary trailer parked on the highway, resulting in the death of one person and leaving four others seriously injured.
According to preliminary information, the impact of the collision was so severe that the car was completely mangled. The engine of the vehicle was reportedly thrown onto the road after the crash. The incident created panic among commuters and locals for some time.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over safety measures on the Western Express Highway. Local residents have repeatedly complained about the lack of proper street lighting on several stretches of the highway.
Heavy vehicles frequently move at high speed during nighttime, and due to poor visibility, drivers often fail to notice obstacles or parked vehicles in time, leading to fatal accidents, residents alleged.
Citizens have also questioned the negligence of MMRDA authorities regarding highway safety. Locals stated that proper lighting arrangements, warning signs, and safety measures could possibly have prevented such a tragic accident.
Meanwhile, Kashimira Police reached the spot and conducted a panchnama. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident. Police are also trying to identify the deceased and contact the relatives of the injured victims.
